Situation and Infrastructure:

Santa Cruz de Tenerife fulfils alls the usual international functions of a provincial capital city.
This includes the usual administration-tasks, as well as the provision of establishments for culture, medical care, and education.
Tenerife has, besides a highly modern university-clinic with all imaginable medical facilities, a very good system of medical services.
In La Laguna, which is close the capital Santa Cruz, there is a university with faculties such as: medicine, law, world economy, philology, chemistry, pharmacy, philosophy, history, biology, mathematics, plastic arts, psychology, physics, computer science, engineering, architecture, agricultural engineering, social-education, etc,
There also exists a well structured system of private and public, national and international schools and colleges.
The German Goethe-institute for example, promotes the "German School" in Santa Cruz which includes all school-grading up to the high school diploma and another education centre is the international, generously endowed, "Luther King Collegio" in San Miguel.
